Deflazacort Tablets – Deflazacort is used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a rare, inherited muscle disease that usually occurs in children and young adults and is caused by a lack of a protein called dystrophin, which helps keep muscle cells intact. This condition causes skeletal and heart muscle weakness that rapidly worsens over time. The drug Deflazacort, also known as glucocorticoids, helps maintain health and general well-being. Deflazacort also helps treat a variety of conditions, including anaphylaxis, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammation (redness, tenderness, warmth, and swelling).

Deflazacort tablet works by maintaining a moderate level of glucocorticoid in the body and reducing the birth of substances that cause inflammation, and auto-immune reaction that damages the body and immune system.

Uses of Deflazacort Tablets

Deflazacort medication can be used for several medical reasons. It’s commonly prescribed for various inflammatory conditions and autoimmune disorders. Below mentioned are its primary uses:

1. Inflammatory Conditions: Deflazacort is often prescribed to reduce inflammation in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), and eczema.
2. Allergic Conditions: It can help manage allergic reactions, including allergic rhinitis (hay fever), allergic asthma, and allergic dermatitis.

Directions to Use 

• Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water 
• Gap the doses evenly as prescribed by your healthcare professional during the course. Do not chew or crush it. 
• If you have trouble swallowing the tablet as a whole, you may break the pill into half and take both halves one at a time.
• Do not stop taking deflazacort without consulting your doctor. Stopping the drug abruptly may increase the risk of side effects.
